Again, thanks for your thought provoking post. It seems to me that guesses 1 & 2 are the most likely, with the second as the most probable. McCaw must have some gameplan which must be based on a marketing synergy. He is clearly creating name recognition with the group name "NEXTxxx" with all the companies that he is participating directly or indirectly. The LMDS acquisition would fit nicely to a broadening of the NXTL service to the consumer market. We all know that NXTL has less spectrum than the PCS and iDEN is not as efficient as the CDMA technology that has been adopted by some of the PCSs (i.e. Sprint). Maybe LMDS is meant to address these issues. But I still believe that there is more to it. Time will tell.
