A very good point you are making.

Indeed my comment was directly opposed to antitrust philosophy. A curious twist of language that gives that set of laws such an unfortunate name.

Antitrust law has a place. By no means do I espouse totally ungoverned markets. Externalities and strongarm behaviour exist, and must be guarded against.

Perhaps a perennially fragmented market is the price we pay to avoid the tyranny of a substandard. Witness the telecom industry over the past 30 years, a state that one might describe as a benevolent but misguided and unenlightened dictatorship.

Well.

I retract my earlier diatribe against outcroppings of market dissension, and thanks to you Mr. Martin for the pointing out.
