imho, I view the free trial as positive, because I think that alot of regular SI readers, who don't necessarily want to post, will learn about and take advantage of the other nifty features of membership. So more registrations >> more money to support SI >> better service for all of us.

I got in SI when it was free. I would be happy to pay a yearly fee
if thats what it takes to keep the site going.

I am not in favor of the trial period as it is. The old way let a person read SI but not post. That should have been good enough to give
a person a feel for what they were paying for.
