My speculation: I think a lot of people jumped in over the past several weeks (who were in the know), expecting an instant price jump. Suddenly, negotiations began dragging on longer than expected. They start getting out. So little volume because when the price doesn't move, no one expects deal to go through. That's my speculation. I have a feeling many got out to flip into daytrades, and hope to get back in when they hear. I bought at .53 if it makes you feel any better.
Also (this is pure speculation, nothing from my sources): I wouldn't be surprised if company is selling a few shares from time to time, just to keep the price in check. Wouldn't want to let the cat out of the bag too much and spoil the deal. At one point (when spread was at .43 by .53) I was told not to purchase any more, as any uptick could ruin the deal. Though other possibility is deal has already determined which day's closing price to figure in, but other specifics yet to be determined.
