If IBM and CPQ all had partially implemented the direct sale model so far and DELL would not go to the distributors, then what can the distributor do ? Taking IBM and CPQ as hostage or
build their own boxes or stop selling IBM and CPQ's products ? The answer for the distributors are continue to sell IBM and PQ's products and IBM and CPQ continue to implement their own direct sale model until it is fully transfered eventually !!!!!

Jack,
As I understand it cpq is not going to BTO, but ODM. I believe this still allows retail distribution. I don't think they want to leave the retail market.
