ohmy... no ice cream shop. ok, lana turner was noticed in a coffee shop ( scwabb's) but slim keith ( hawks eventual wife after betty was bogie's girl) had seen betty's shot in either harper's or vogue ( i have to check...) during an early modeling stint and showed it to hawks. he had her test based on the magazine shot...but it was slim after whom hawks fashioned the character for bacall, his sleek fashion model. slim keith was a legend in her own right; she was a woman of great style and class...( and one of capote's laies who lunched)
