Marcel,

Good article. I have been following the anti-merger talks and some of the talking heads on TV. I have no vested interest in the WCOM/MCI merger since I do not own either of those stocks. The arguments against the merger are lacking an understanding of the internet and the backbone. My only point is what do these people trying to discourage this merger have to gain?

The lack of competition argument which seems to be prevalent, seems to ignore the fact that Sprint and ATT both have backbones and have enough financing to increase their backbone. It also is not mentioned that the backbones are inadequate at present and the WCOM/MCI merger will be economy of scale in an area that needs a lot of capitol spent.
