I hear ADI could go as high as $20-$40 if their product is a real success. MPEG compression in a chipset is a big deal. Imagine DVD disks in a smaller format than CD's (similar to the 5.25" to 3.5" floppy conversion way back when) .......

There is no doubt that this is a high risk investment since this is more or less vaporware until an actual product ships. I also believe there are some competitors though. I am unsure how far along they are though. In 10-15 years this is going to be a commodity technology but for now it is bleeding edge. So your investment should give you a bloody nose as well.

It went to 7.00 for a couple of reasons. One was the announcement of the technology that was supposed to be due about 18 months ago. ADI ultimately scrapped the initial software for some reason in late '96. The other were announcements that Cadence design was hired as a contractor along with IBM as a foundry for the chip manufacturing. It ultimately dwindled back down to under $1.00 due to profit taking, and slipping delivery dates. They do seem to be on track now from what I hear. There is a silent enthusiasm in the air. I can feel it.

If you want, send e-mail to Sheryl Ann Despain at sads@adi.net. She is investor realations and has ALWAYS been forthcoming about anything I have asked her.
