Maybe what is holding Triby back is the change over to a single currency in Europe. They might be waiting to see how their currency holds up in the transition. I saw this on Bloombergs website. Any comments?
EU -Sets Sights on Euro With Punt Revaluation, Drachma ERM Entry
The European Union's revaluation of the Irish punt marks the final adjustment to exchange rates on the road to a single currency and dispels any lingering questions about the switch to the euro next year, analysts said. The decision to raise the Irish currency's target rate in the EU's exchange-rate mechanism by 3 percent came at a meeting of the EU monetary committee yesterday, a meeting that also voted to admit the Greek drachma to the ERM. Together, the moves lay out how the EU will proceed as it prepares to introduce the euro on Jan. 1, 1999.
