IBM's Marketing Geniuses at Work

techweb.com

Let's see, Microsoft announces that its Outlook client will be given away free for 90 days so IBM strikes back with an announcement of its own: Fooled you! We are still going to abandon cc:Mail but we were just kidding about the free Notes client! AH HA! HA! HA! We suckered Microsoft into giving away their groupware client for free by sending false messages to the user community! IBM had better come up with a sweet deal on Tuesday or suffer the backlash from the cc:Mail customers they've left twisting in the wind. I don't think we're asking for flawless execution here, just a little focus and a sense of direction.
