Terry,

"Within an hour of the stock market's opening an order for 5000 long positions in the S&P future index was placed by somebody,"

More evidence to support market manipulation. Isn't that what non-free governments and dictators do? What will happen if it gets generally known and accepted that this sort of thing happens?

I'm not that familiar with what goes on in the S&P futures pits. But who in hell would ever fade those 5000 long spoos, or how could they have the margin to do so? Or is the Fed buying with one hand and selling with the other? They do print the money, I guess. I've thought of writing to the Fed and asking them if they do that or did that. It would be interesting if they could come up with a denial or admit it.

Thanks for the info.

Jack

5000 long and the fed....

First of all, this is pure speculation that the fed did this.

Second, we are then solidly in the realm of conspiracy theories, that someone in the government is manipulating the market. And doing it secretly, covertly.

Like, maybe, only Alan G. and one other person even knows!!! Don't you think it is just a little far fetched that a small group of people in the government could secretly use vast sums of money to manipulate the the entire market, turn it on a dime, yet leave no record and have the whole thing remain secret?

Sort of like Oli North in the White House, I guess. Or the secret CIA within a CIA from Three Days of the Condor.

If this is true, how long will the conspirators keep the market up and rising? What will the first signs be that they are out of their positions, short and ready to let it fall?
