The Vocaltec products are definitely toys. I visited their booth at Internet World last week, and got to make some free phone calls over the internet to Milwaukee. It works, but their voice/IP gateway product is based on NT, and looks like another NT server. This will not cut it long term. ISP's and carriers need a more robust OS. Lucent has a carrier-grade VoIP gateway. Plus, Vocaltec has lots of competition. There were perhaps six other vendors at the show who had similar products, most of them using NT.
