Lee, The problem with all of the desktops have their own software and computer system, is that updating all of them is REALLY time consuming, where if the HOST contains the software, you just buy the number of licenses you need, update the HOST and you are all done! All networks stations are updated at once. For example, and update requiring an hour to do on 2000 stations takes 1 man year, or 1 man hour on the server! Let's see now, how much did that cost? Of course, you still the the advanced desktop computers as soon as you start manipulating large files in Access or Excel, so you really need Servers (DELL<vbg>) AND Desktops (DELL<VVBBGG>)!
