but who is recommending the CPQ vs DELL spread...the way to go is short both (and if you havent forgot what correction is like or how long integration takes or what it feels like when a sector goes out of flavor...just ask the networking or oil/oil services guys or the disk drive mfgs---these are all businesses that will be around in the long run but have had their capitalization slashed by 50-80%)

but if you like holding large cap...the best play is to go long IBM vs. short CPQ short term...look at the relative valuation...and IBM's service business and corporate relationships...CPQ would like to be IBM...and IBM is extremely cheap versus CPQ and has less near term issues...so why not go long IBM

BTW when people go short...they dont think about any long term stuff...CPQ will be 20 soon and a move like that suits me very nicely

so far my short DELL and short CPQ position is profiting very nicely...unless I hear information the shorts will keep profiting...BTW I am long focused enterprise computing players
