CC,

Thanks for starting this thread!
I just finished reading the book tonight and was going to start a
thread (I searched for Gorilla and walah, it was already there)

Let's make it a little more interesting for the participants.
I was going to call the thread "The Gorilla Game" with the
subtitle of KING KONG or Magilla? (a fake Gorilla)

I will start first, I submit that LU is a Gorilla in the making.
NXTL is a Magilla.

Unconfirmed Gorilla Sightings... Just a reminder that there are 2 distinguishing characteristics of a Gorilla

#1) Proprietary, but open technology

#2) High Switching Costs

While we would like to think of some very large high technology companies such as CPQ or DELL as gorillas, you can see neither fits the description above. Personally, I think CSCO is the major gorilla at this time... faster PC operating systems and INTC hardware can't fix the WWW (World Wide Wait) but CSCO technology and products can. Possibly this killer application is the gorilla opportunity of all time. Good luck to everyone

Why do we have SDTI's quote on the bottom of this thread? Are you trying to front run with all the market movers on SI?

I finished the book today and am not convinced that tornados and bowling alleys for application software can be identified and managed apriori. Is this thread focused on the discussion of possible tornado markets, an evaluation of the model portfolio, or is a discussion of individual stocks?

P.S. From reading the last 20 posts of so it appears that it is more focused on individual stocks.
