Wow! Hostile foreign takeovers allowed in Korea. Maybe the sellers won't consider them hostile - probably grateful to have somebody prepared to put up some money. Qualcomm has lots of $$$ figures, 6, 7, 8, or 9 depending on whether we are talking zeroes before or after a decimal point. Maybe shopping in Korea will start soon. Chris, I won't do my rant yet - on monopolies. That will need a head of steam and some wine [sherry isn't sophisticated enough for me now that Globalstar is so high]. Yes, you're right, I did pay that much for an upgrade, which I think my license allows me to use on one computer. Including my new ones as I buy them. Just one computer at a time. And unload it from one if I want to instal it in another. Not a scam. I'm happy with the price and the terms. I wouldn't go so far as to say government is totally useless. Can you give me the quote on that? Just mostly useless = they could halve spending and I'd be better off and so would maybe 70% of people. Sure, the original Internet was Darpa or something. So what. The original electricity was Faraday hanging onto a kite or something. That doesn't mean he can claim credit for electrons wherever they might be. Gate's contribution to the internet is more the enabling software of Windows 95 than Explorer [which I hear is quite good]. I bet he is more worried about hanging on to what he's got than thinking he is king of the heap and can lie back and rest on his monopoly laurels. 5 years from now, he could be wondering how on earth it all went wrong so fast. Even if Janet Reno leaves him alone to enjoy his "monopoly". Did you notice in that article by Kelly that Qualcomm was used in the next sentence to the one in which Microsoft gives away Explorer - Qualcomm giving away Eudora. I enjoyed seeing that. Soon, Qualcomm will be in the first sentence and Microsoft in the second. Not long after that, Qualcomm will be top of the article. I think I already enjoy cheap computing. Compared with 3 years ago even. Compared with 10 years ago, there IS no comparison. Compared with my fortran 4 days! Heck, I was born in the stone age. But I suppose it will get a lot cheaper yet.
