I have just joined and read through all of the messages in this thread. It certainly is very educational. I recently started trading using level 2 but am only trading 100 shares at a times to learn and limit my risk until I know what I am doing. You've indicated there is sometimes no rhyme or reason to the MM activity but in actuality it is like a game of chess or bridge in which you have to learn who your opponents are. Individual MM control different stocks even though they all trade in every stock. Its neccessary to know who they are and what they are doing. If they want to buy or sell you don't want to do the reverse of what they are doing because they know where the stock is going. Can you please comment on this and also if you have a particular strategy for stock split announcements and the dates before and after spliting. Thank you very much. Please add me to you mailing list also. I will sent a separate e-mail regarding that. thank you

Is daytrading an IRA or custodial acc. a common practice and are any other restrictions (shorting, margin) imposed by the IRS.
What are your thoughts on how much negative effect these restrictions impose.
Thanks for your inputs

BUYING AND SELLING (PART I)

I usually do a LIMIT BUY on a stock I want to go long on. Once my execution is confirmed, I will put up a MARKET SELL and get ready to exit.

Be careful not to sell until a confirmation has been received from your broker. I recently had a student sell before he confirmed his buy. This resulted in a "SHORT SELL" because his buy was not executed. Sometimes impatience gets the best of us when the adrenaline running high.
