Dear Graystone, To me people are not responsible for what they are taught as children. It is what they chose to do with it as adults that counts. Having lived in a race that has faced more hatred than any group I rejoice and embrace James for his honesty and obvious choice to overcome things taught to him as a child. We have others on these threads that are feeding the monster and encouraging others to feed theirs as well, that should be addressed and James should be made an example to them. If we are to harsh on a brother that is honest and struggling with poor teaching I am afraid we might discourage others from being honest, and God makes it clear that the Truth is the way to peace and love. Trust me that I know how racial comments can take your breath away and stab like a sword into your heart, but it does not go away without honesty and I bet most people including yourself have some form of prejudism. Like stereotyping Christians, did you see all the insults my husband received for telling them that he does not want to be called a Christian but he is simply a Jew who loves the Messiah. We do not like the term Christian for it is used by to many groups and people who by their actions do not have a clue who Jesus was or is. In 1 John it says that if you say you love God and hate men you are a liar and a hypocrite. I am going to be honest with you about homosexuality. God says in Leviticus that a man should not sleep with a man as he does a woman for it is detestable to Him and the same for a woman and the same for a man sleeping with his fathers wife etc... He does not tell people to stop being dark skinned, or Jewish, or white. There is some element of choice here as stated by the Creator, but no greater a sin than a man sleeping with women in a manner not accepted by God. He requires all of us to have some boundaries on or sexual choices. At times I used to want to be with men before my husband and that desire is overwhelming so I have tremendous compassion but God will not be mocked. If it were kept personal between them and God they would find healing for their souls for God is meek and lowly in Spirit and gentle and kind, but men are desperately wicked and cruel at best. So to me the issue is between them and God He is the only worthy Judge of us all. We all sin by the moment but not all of us demand others to accept that sin as OK. I know it will bring anger that I see it as sin but it is there and I try to be just as honest with my own sins.I have posted before that a man that commits adultry all week and goes to Church on Sunday with his family is headed for disaster and is no worse to me than a homosexual in Gods eyes, but they will look down on homosexuals as though they were more righteous and it makes me sick, but again God is the true judge of all.May the Lord bless us all with His wisdom, love, compassion and unity. Nancy
