World oil demand estimated to grow by 18 million barrels/day between 1996 and 2010. Of this incremental oil imports are expected to account for 85% or 15.3 million b/d. 75% of this is expected to come from the Mid East. The International Energy Agency expects world oil demand to rise from 71.7 million in 1996 to 75.1 million in 1998.
