Bob,

I agree it is difficult to draw too many conclusions from so little information. Let me try to pick your brain for a more satisfying explanation of your ideas about Adam's motivations.
Paul says Eve was deceived (beguiled) in 2 Cor 11:3; it does not say either way whether Adam was so deceived or not. If you have a quote saying Adam was not deceived, it would clear it up a lot for me.
The description of Adam and Eve eating the fruit doesn't say anything except she ate it, gave it to him, and he ate it. I don't think the description addresses the issue of free will at all.
Inasmuch as losing Eve, if Adam believes what God says in Gen 2:17, then he would have figured Eve was going to die right then and there (or at least that day). Is this the genesis of the suicide pact? I don't think so. In fact, from that point of view, Adam is indirectly deceived by the serpent into believing that he won't die if he eats of the fruit.
I'm not sure if sin being transferred from generation to generation after Adam constitutes the devil having dominion. In Rom 5:14, it seems that Paul is suggesting that death is what is transferred from generation to generation. I have trouble interpreting exactly how Paul is linking sin and death. Even given that Original Sin is a pretty well established doctrine, I'm still not sure how you get to the devil having dominion. Are you only referring to the time between Adam and Jesus? Since you seem to be saying that Jesus now has dominion. As you can see I'm still a bit unclear on what you are trying to say. Please clarify.
I can't really say what I have learned about these things. I only know that I am always learning about these things.

Greg
