Three more possible reasons for the appointment:

1. No quality sales exec from the outside was interested in the position.
2. He was available, making a press release possible
3. No increase to their salary base...ie he's already on salary.

MD requires taking the source code off the mainframe, and a lot of "prepping" of code before processing. BTW, is Nevada done yet? They just got the job 16 months ago.
