The following update from Individual Investor, which named CMGI to its 1998 Magic 25 back in December at $21 a share, may be helpful to you in answering this question. Basically, II says that CMGI is still not fully valued above $60, when you take into account the many smaller ventures it has stakes in: __________________________________________________ 3/9/98 CMG Information Services Rockets Ahead; Buy CMG Information Services Inc. (CMGI) has risen 30% in the last month in response to a couple of favorable Wall Street Journal articles. The Journal reiterated bullish sentiments that we have cited for almost three years. In the summer of 1995, when we first recommended the shares, they had been selling for a split-adjusted $6. Since then investors have garnered a 900% return on their investment. On a valuation basis, clearly CMG has exceeded our short term expectations. By our valuation model, CMG is about 28% overvalued, but that is only on the value of four companies plus cash. Eighteen other companies in which CMG currently holds equity stakes are not part of our calculus. If we include those companies, CMG remains undervalued, leading us to the conclusion that its shares still have more room to move on the upside. In other developments, Planet Direct, a CMG subsidiary, announced it is starting a $1 million broadcast campaign with Erols Internet, one of the country's largest regional Internet Service Providers. The cooperative ad campaign should bring much more visibility to Planet Direct. Erols and Planet Direct have been partners since July 1997. CMG insiders also snapped up company shares on the open market. Director Graig Goldman bought 15,000 shares at a price of $29.31 per share, which turned out to be impeccable timing.
