Micron Technology (MU:NYSE) reported a second-quarter loss of 23 cents per share, 5 cents worse than the 16-analyst consensus estimate and down from the year-ago profit of 67 cents. The company blamed the shortfall on Asian competitors. Micron Electronics (MUEI:Nasdaq), majority-owned by Micron Technology, reported a second-quarter operating loss of about 24 cents per share, 2 cents short of the 12-analyst expectation and down from the year-ago profit of 30 cents. (Micron Electronics did not provide a per-share operating loss figure; the figure above was calculated based on the total net earnings, gain and loss that the company did report.)>>
