QDog,

My apologies! I failed to see the "don't" before "doubt".

My bad!
Bob Martin

As to why it's so much cheaper at the shows, I have no idea.

pooch, Bob Martin:********off topic--cheap software**********

you guys chatting about software 'shows' or 'conventions' or whatever they are is of interest. few weeks back, I was in an office max/depot/comp usa (can't remember which) clutching a few boxes of software when this guy came up and said that I was a bozo brain to be paying their prices. gave me a URL for an outfit called: robertaustin.com that throws two events/month, one in Oakland and one in San Francisco. according to this guy, it is totally legitimate software that you buy and register with the seller and you are a bona fide user, with upgrade entitlements, and all that. He did say you got only the cd or floppy in its little case as opposed to the big cardboard box (which in my experience is about 98% air anyway) but aside from that, it was identical. He said, just like Carl Sagan, that there were billions and billions of applications on sale and that recently they'd been adding hardware to boot. He started ticking off prices at the convention versus what was in front of us in the aisle and I could hardly believe it. I put back all the stuff I was going to buy except for one little thing I really needed but have yet to check it out in person. Anybody have experience with these shindigs in general or robertaustin in SF Bay Area? How the hell can this be legit? One example: Microsoft Office '97 Professional Edition, full version (not upgrade) $225.00. Yikes! Mike Doyle
