Ramsey,
I probably shouldn't have used the term "writing off." I should have said, "taking a $500M earnings hit." Sorry.
Jack

Ramsey...The surplus inventory is not the
problem. It is the result of an internal
problem.

Taking care of inventory is a "bandaid".

A strategy needs to be put in place which
is the preventive medicine, so that "result"
does not happen in the future.

Part of the market's view of CPQ is not
the inventory problem, but faith in the strategy.

I do not have enough information or data on the management
to form an clear opinion as to whether they have the character
and tenacity to deal with these issues. (I hope they do.)
In a rising market tide in the past CPQ did quite well.
Let's hope, through this more difficult time, they will as well.
