IJF,

Value investing is good; however, you are playing the piano with one hand tied behind your back. You would probably increase your performance by using both hands on the piano. Of course, you cannot just bang away at the piano with the other hand. You need to learn to play it. A good starting point would to buy Tom Dorsey's book from Amazon.com. It will help you get started in learning Point and Figure. Walmart is a good example of a value play. Until recently, it was a good value play for the last 3 or 4 years. During the same time, the market charged forward. Had you been value investing in WMT this whole time, you would have missed many opportunities. However, had you combine your fundamental value investing with Point and Figure Technical Analysis, you would have known not to be in Walmart until recently. You would have seen the time to buy your value stock. I encourage you to read Tom's book and take a trial of his site while you are reading the book.

Good Luck,

Lobster
