Well, if it's speculation you want, here's my 2 cents.
SEEK is in a good position vis a vis the other search engines, as far as price/hype ratio (a key indicator in the internet business).
However, all search engines -- all -- are way overpriced.
The reason is that (1) they are relatively simple to build and populate, (2) they use no propriatary technology, and (3) the switching cost to the consumer is zero.
Given this, over the next six months or so there will be buyouts/mergers of all the engines (e.g., Yahoo/MCI, SEEK/?), along with a proliferation of other engines to fill up their space. These others will plug along, making a little money, but not becoming major players.
As for SEEK investment, I'll hold on until it merges with someone, ride it up another 25% past that, then bail.
My two cents.

<<<Kind've OT: A Modest Proposal>>>

In an attempt to preserve the character(s) of this
board, I suggest the following...

* That SI debut the All-Luke Channel, which consists entirely of
posts to and from Mr. Luke. Slogan: "All Luke, All The Time."

* That my friends at Xerox PARC or the New Media Lab at MIT
get to work on creating LUKESRV, a bot with a complete range
of programmed responses, including...

* "So, when it tanks, who will you thank?"

* "I'm just trying to save you some money here."

* "Obviously, you're married to this investment.
Never mix emotions with finance."

* "I've seen this so many times before."

* "I always feel sorry for folks who forget that
their stocks can go down."

* "When this stock hits ______, don't come crying
to me."

* "See, I told you so. Next time, you'll listen."

* Or, as the above seems highly unlikely,
we figure out a way of co-existing here with opinions
that, on occasion, collide. If somebody implies that Mr. Luke
is an idiot or the like, them's fighting words, as far as I'm
concerned. But, Mr. Luke could choose not to take the bait.
On the other hand, if Mr. Luke feels the need to persist in
posting pretty much the same thought again and again, we, too,
have choices. The "NEXT" button is a good one. And we can
choose NOT to reply.

And, frankly, his position ISN'T particularly
remarkable. I mean, wow, here's a thought: SEEK sells off three
or four bucks after a terrific run-up fueled by an SPO and ML
out with its legions talking up the "undervaluation" story.
This is hardly headline material in my book. And when it
retrenches, a la XCIT on several occasions, then resumes
its upward march... fueled, hopefully, by some good news... this
little breather will look insignificant. I know,
if you're in at 22, hitting 17 sounds like a circle of hell. But,
if you've done your homework, feel comfortable with the stock,
don't need any short-term pop to pay the light bills, and aren't margined
to the teeth, SEEK's as good a place as any for a LONG haul.
And I would argue, SEEK is a better place than many.

Oh well, that's my opinion. And, Mr. Luke, if by chance
you can find a way to be offended by any of the above, that wasn't
my intention at all. With as many posts as you generate,
surely you can stand a little ribbing and parody, I hope.

Best Regards To All True SEEKers,

c m

Sitting on sideline following this thread for quite a while, I don't understand why you guys are so mad on Mr. Luke.

> And to the extent that you may feel
you are repaying in kind some less-than-friendly posts aimed
at you, may I make a suggestion? Sometimes, it's good to just
walk away rather than feeding a flame-fest.

I don't recall any posts from Mr.Luke is as rude as this.

>I have to wonder because of the shear volume of your posts
and amount of repetition, what really is your end-game? Is it
to help folks avoid a slide? Or to be sure that you're credited
with calling a southward move? Or what?

My impression is there are more posts from SHGLaw than from Mr. Luke.

Is this all because Luke disagrees with you?

No flames please. I just hope this thread will be more informative.
