If you go back and try that historically with CPQ (where the actual dollar values are available in CPQ public info) the numbers are only within about 25% - I think the ASP calculation is too dependent on product mix to make that a reliable estimate. With a market share growing as fast as Dell's server business, and given the volatility of server pricing at the moment, I don't think any of these macro techniques are going to yield really tight numbers.
