I've been familiar with this company since around 1984 when I started working for one of their competitors. I have since worked for 3 different competitors and turned down job offers from them twice.

My humble opinion. Time to short.

Mark

I think it is a good avenue of new products for the company. I don't think the deal with Microsoft is anything special. You and I could probably get a deal to distribute CE.

It doesn't make the company worth 40% more, although it was worth a lot more than 5 1/2 anyway. Earnings for the next 2 Quarters are probably more driven by sales into Japan. If that area recovers the company will increase profitability and the stock price will recover.

In the long term, it looks like Microsoft is really serious about growing CE, and is considering entering the real time OS business (John Dvorak's column in April PC Magazine). In that case, working with MSFT in this area is an excellent strategic move and could allow them to participate in new and fast growing market.

We sold 1/4 of our position yesterday, but hope to buy it back if the stock slips back below 7. Needham downgraded it today based on valuation (buy to a hold) and H&Q is waiting on improvements in Japan to upgrade.

I like it long term, but don't expect much in the short-term. Hopefully we will get additional information from Mark who is an industry insider.
