I was at the meeting--very interesting. Crossen is
compelling and he certainly had some interesting
data and interesting picks based on what seemed to be
very specific research. A bunch of people stuck around after and
cornered Crossen and literally pummeled him with every
biotech stock under the sun. Ligand came up and he seemed
to give a sly smile and he commented, "they certainly are
interesting." Quite a fascinating/meaningless piece of
information if I do say so myself. His stories, however, were
golden. You couldn't see the slides from the seats, but
his data paints an interesting picture of investing in biotechs.
I'd recommend the audio tape because he gave the specifics on
what to buy, why to buy it, and when--exactly--to make the
investment for a positive return and without having your $$
sit around too far in advance of an event. I did, however,
disagree with a few of his picks on which I think I am knowledgeable.
Other picks, from his description, seem to be no-brainers.
He definitely seemed to be indicating that the BIG EVENT would be guessing who Amgen would buy--but he gave no indication or even hint at which company. Mr. Niman, any data on the Amgen hit rate at your Ligand site?

FYI, price can have a huge impact on sales of a new drug
(BTW, it can also have no impact). Crossen threw out quite a few
prices in the after-seminar cornering which certainly shed light
on a number of stocks I follow. I find that information
hard to come by before a product's launch--very informative and
very worth the $20 and a few hours of my time. I'd recommend
these forums--coming up in Seattle, Colorado, San Diego, San
Francisco, and I think LA.
