Dell has patents on key aspects of how they do business, which might be interesting as their competitors try to emulate Dell's model.

Don't make me laugh. You can't never get patents on "how [to] do business." Otherwise, Wintel would have to pay trillions of dollars on patent infringement of "emulating" a monopoly. Dell's patents only cover some minor configuration such as cacheing and external design on notebooks. But, you can never claim a patent on how you control your inventory... So much for cheerleaders' knowledge on computer technology.
