Reseller,

Are you (and others) so certain that the advertising campaign has failed at this point. I think Allen pointed out earlier that KE indicated in the conference call that it won't be until April or May before the results of the advertising campaign can be assessed. It also seems to me that much of the advertising (at least radio) has been pitched toward the Jaz. Being that Jaz2 is still ramping, I would not expect to see those results for awhile. It was also pointed out by someone that the advertising is really an "awareness" approach. Thus we should not expect immediate results from the advertising.

I am wondering what the breakdown between retail sales and OEM sales will be? While I won't be surprised if retail is slowing--in spite of the ad campaign, I would guess that the earnings shortfall is really one more of slower OEM sales dues to the slower box sales as warned by COMPAQ, MICRON, etc., and to slower overseas sales in general. I also wonder if it is possible that the percentage of Zips going into OEM boxes might still be increasing, with those earnings being offset by substantially lower box sales in general.

Still looking for a glimmer of hope.

Jim Welsh
