who has to buy back shares by 3/25/98?
nobody has to buy any shares, and there is not a significant short interest here to keep a squeeze going.
the initial shorts got killed, covered went long, the second wave of short (like me) got hurt, and some covered,(like me) there is a third wave of short that were short, went long and are now short.
however there is no time limit unless you know something that is going to happen on 3/24 after hours, that i don't.
taxi~btw the "arbitration" you are speculating on is not so common, the possibility of the stock's price action (it went up hard and fast) could have been a small short squeeze, combined with a naked call writer's nightmare.. thus the buying frenzy to get shares cheaply, so that their loss is limited. naked call writer's are usually not short seller's they are just inexperienced(generally) options players.
