>>The bull market has put a premium on deception because it pays so well<< Read your excellent eye-opener this morning with breakfast. Thanks.

Carnage in the Streets--
From the USA Today site, current top losers on the NYSE include:
NYSE Market Summary
Updated as of: Mar 17, 1998 @ 4:00 pm ET

Top 10 NYSE Percentage Losers:

Symbol Last Change Pct Loss Volume
PHY 4 1/4 -8 1/4 -66.0 284K
AOL 64 3/8 -65 3/8 -50.4 3.63M

Fortunately, PHY is not down 66%, but only about 1%.
Also, AOL, the much more important stock, for tech lovers, is only down about 1% as well (these computers haven't heard of splits, before, I guess).

As Lawrence Kam points out, deception is rife in the marketplace.

Larry

PS: The prices and percentage losses were copied directly from the USA Today Money site, without any fudging of the figures by yours truly.

>>the paranoid concerns I have spouted<<

Lawrence, if you are paranoid, so am I. It is a demonstrable fact that THEY are out to get us. Earnings estimate on the S&P show a measly 4-5% increase, and we're up 11% already before the end of the 1st quarter. Internet stocks make tulip bulbs look cheap. Obviously the old p/b, p/e, p/s standbys don't work any more. Even Buffett, who sat at the feet of the master(Graham) has capitulated. My shorts are doing okay, but my long puts are being killed.

When will it end? Only when I've lost so much on my bearish stance that I put everything into SPY's and go fishing for a week. I'll let you know.

BTW, I can't figure out who THEY is. The Vatican? The Freemasons? The Triads? The trouble with being paranoid is that you never know where the next enemy is coming from. But I do know that they are getting me.
