Jason,

In this kind of doomsday scenario, everyone will loss money and a lot of merger will happen. Gateway, MUEI, Acer will probably merge with some bigger companies like Dell or CPQ. The one that I am not too sure is NEC/Packard Bell. The PC business really does not fit NEC very well. If they start to loss a lot of money in this scenario, they may try to dump the division as well. My guess is that we will have IBM, HWP, CPQ and Dell left at the end of the day. However, the profit margin and growth is going to be terrible for quite a while.

Jason, how did you get to be the editor of this thread? Where does a word limit come from? I think your response was prissy to say the least, and perhaps arrogant. If that kind of thing is important to you why don't you start your own site?

I found Man Wah Ma's analysis very interesting and well thought out. And that's what separated it from the bulk of the bear thinking. While I happen to disagree with Man's conclusion, it will be interesting to see how the scenario plays out.
