*AV*---Hold CYMI and it will only be a matter of time before we are rewarded. Timing and poor investor relations are to blame here. Quality and performance will not be an issue nor will implementation.

IOM-I cannot advise you to average down on IOM. I do not think it is risky but these guys scare me. All I see is the OEM of these units into systems such as Gateway and some of the local computer store clones. I would think business was real good. Also, a chip that is made specifically for IOM is still enjoying good production volume runs at their supplier. The pipeline seems to be full yet it is not responding in price.

As with other companies, IOM will not make its $$$$ with the Jaz or Zip drives but with the media. Broader implementation of the units increases the need for the disks. I still see this as the replacement for the 3.5" disk drives within the next year or so. As far as storage capability, it is losing its appeal when you can buy a WD 4.0Gig drive for under $200. If you stretch the convenience angle slightly, Why would I want a portable Zip or Jaz Drive when I could go out and pay $69 for one of those external power supply - parallel port - external disk drive gizmos that I can put the 4.0 Gig drive into and carry with me?

IOM should be solid in a new internal implementation cycle of their units within desk top and hopefully laptop configurations. But as far as the external units are concerned, there could be some drop off. I haven't even mentioned the PCMCIA units that can be fitted into a 3.5" bay with the removable hard drives that are the size of a hotel bar of soap. PCMCIA implementation has been real slow and it may even be the BETAMAX of the desktop implementation but it is still out there.

With all this said, the gambler in me has already averaged down yesterday but I do not advise anyone else following me. I was not a real fan of IOM way back early last year when there was a big controversy on this thread.
