Hi Toy Soldier,

Yep, and that's the whole problem. Novell won't spend the money to market and advertise their products even though it means the difference between life and death.

One of the first things out of Schmidts mouth when he took over as CEO was that Novell had marketing problems (who didn't know that). Where has he been cutting expenses? Sales and marketing of course.

For whatever reason, Novells culture is unable to grasp the concept of salesmanship and advertising. As close as I can tell it's a culture of tech bigots and bookkeepers that can't possibly imagine the value of anyone that doesn't write code. Their concept of marketing is about on par with putting a hand lettered "for sale" sign on a car parked in the alley, because it's cheaper than running a classified ad. Then they can't figure out why it isn't selling because they just gave it a tune up and it's a good car.

To a large extent, I gave up on the idea of a Novell turn around after seeing one of their sales presentations. It was done by a group of techs that didn't have a clue about salesmanship. Pathetic! Microsoft couldn't have a better crew on their side if they had them on the payroll.

Regards,

Don
