Seems that Amersham et al filed against PE-ABI first regarding energy transfer dyes, so ABI is tossing a spitball back and filing against MDYN and Amersham for infringing on some of its patents. Sounds like a pissing contest to me. Intellectual property BS makes my head hurt trying to interpret it. But one of the great things about this country is that you can sue anyone for anything......of course winning is another matter completely. We need a good patent attorney on the thread. May have to call up a couple of bio patent attorneys I know and see if I can get an opinion. Who gets hurt most in the meantime until the courts get around to deciding, which ain't going to happen in a hurry? My bet is that MDYN gets hurt the worst as they are a one trick pony. PE-ABI and Amersham et. al. each have lots of things going on, so IMO immediate impact will be minimal versus how MDYN gets hit. Hopefully, these guys don't tie up technology and keep it out of scientists hands while they toss spit wads, then science is the real loser. Hope they both grow up and do a cross license. My vote is that they all get spanked and sent to their rooms, but the wife would probably just give them timeout - who knows what the feds will give them? We know who makes out in all of this, the patent attorneys.
