Any guesses as to when Quicktime 3.0 will be announced?

If you think about it, a lot of the expected announcements would have been grossly inappropriate for the venue. Seybold is *not* MacWorld.

Yes, you're quite right. The announcements matched the venue, no more and no less. I was way off in my guess that the new PowerBooks would be announced, and that they would use copper.

(Oh, that was something I forgot to mention in my report. The first time the 400 MHz G3 ran the Photoshop filters against the Compaq, the G3 paused for a few seconds at one point. A murmur ran through the crowd, because it was clearly a bug of some sort. Then the G3 got over it somehow, and still beat the Compaq. So Steve said, "Wanna see it again?", and they ran it again, and the G3 didn't pause the second time, and really blew the Compaq away. I assume the pause was related to the copper chip being a prototype).

Don't expect a CEO announcement [at NAB]

This makes me wonder: what upcoming event would be appropriate for a CEO announcement? Seems like they'll have to hold something special for it. What do other companies do when they bring a new CEO on board? Press conference?

For that matter, what about the PowerBook announcement? It seems from the way they've cleared the decks that they're gearing up for the new PB lineup, but when?

I wonder if we're going to get another Nov. 10 style "Apple Event".
