The price of DRAM in a box is typically 10% the retail price of the box. So if a you think computer AUP's will be around $900 in 8 months the price of the dram will be $90. This is useful especially when figuring 64MB is the most the average Pent-II will need. So from my previous post we know 64MB is 8 64Mb chips. Then $60/8 = $11.25... there is about 33% mark up to cover cost from OEM to consumer... This leaves you with a $8.50 Anyhow... check the 10% thing it holds true pretty well throughout PC history What this means not much really... but it does say that if prices don't continue going down a lot more PC with ship with 32MB then 64MB hence demand slips Driving prices... down... its a circle!
