Will really SUNW and NSCP form an alliance? To me it is quite possible and makes sense. I never believe that NSCP will be forced out of business by MSFT. It won't be too difficult for NSCP to turn itself to an AOL style service company. Actually NSCP has been planning to do such business already. The shortest way to reach this goal is to have one of those existing online service companies with it together. Who will be it? NSCP has been looking for... The key thing is NSCP have to let the company involved own parts of NSCP.

As a NSCP shareholder, I sincerely hope they don't attempt to use an AOL model. Microsoft has had dismal success with MSN, and they have poured BILLIONS into it! Catering to consumers is a very difficult thing, and it would totally defocus Netscape from their enterprise strategies. Come to think of it, given Netscape's track history of doing suprisingly weird things, its quite likely Netscape WILL announce something like this. <sigh>

Here's something ironic to think about : Yahoo has about 300 employees, and a market cap over 4 billion dollars. Netscape has over 2,500 employees (had, they fired 400 or so I guess) and a market cap of 2 billion. Netscape has a revenue rate of (?) $500 million I believe, whereas Yahoo's is substantially lower. Don't know what to make of the numbers, but they are interesting...
