Zonagen due diligence, part 2. My first review of the literature indicates that phentolamine is not very active by itself. The combination with papaverine and/or a prostaglandin is more active. There appears to be no possible patent for phentolamine but a patent for a specific formulation appears possible. Phentolamine and papaverine are cheap and readily available chemicals.

Current guess: If Pfizer's drug is approved then ZONA will have to prove that their VASOMAX is somehow better in some set of well defined applications. Just as good is not allowed under current FDA rules. Will look into this some more but if Viagra, Pfizer's drug, is approved then its hard to see how VASOMAX will be a success. There may be some other things in the pipline but I'll need the investors packet from ZONA to be informed about them.
