mike--

actually the numbers i have heard are in a range between 35 and 40, not 25-30 (which i have to say i would not be that unhappy with).

funny you should mention LU, since that is one of the one i have heard repeatedly.

there could be a number of things going on here. for one, the whisper layoffs (is piper is correct) could be a good indication of a buyout. maybe the purchaser has told them to get rid of the employees before the deal is closed.

analyst DGs...well the dain bosworth one was really a lot of crap, mostly about the loss of IP in the TXN/AMTX deal. personally, i doubt that anyone there knows what IP stands for, let alone how to account for it.

robbie stepehens has been bullish on us for a long time, and they still are, just not strongly bullish. IMHO, i think they are just hedging their bets probably worried about g.lite and the FCC.

maybe the DG from RS was to get the price of the stock lower so that BAs trading dept. could load up on it? who knows. i got into technology stocks originally because i could buy the next big thing cheap and then unload it to the morons at prices that were way to high. the problem now is that wall st. is beginning to think they understand the technology. reading recent comments on semis has left a bad taste in my mouth, mostly because the analysts are either too lazy or too stupid to understand what is going on. i have seen nothing in this sectors analysts to make my opinion change.

just have to be patient. implosion? i dont think so. most of the street thinks we have already lost BEL and GTE, so announcing them gone should have little effect.

good luck to all,
trey
