[ip tel/adsl]

Hi Tom

yes, think you're right about not tying adsl and ip tele to tightly..

interesting tho, that the dt press release included both, but don't think we should read too much into it...

must admit, that i have been thinking about how the two could be connected... the obvious is extended or expanded audio applications such as videophones... and maybe something in the qos end or network management end?... suspect we will hear more in the months ahead...

back to dt... on a recent info jaunt thru the intc website, noticed that dt is a big user of intc videophones:

"Deutsche Telekom Signs Agreement To Sell Intel Business Video Conferencing Systems In Germany

One of Desktop Video Conferencing's Largest Orders Will Bring ProSharer Technology to Businesses, Small Offices and Home Offices

HILLSBORO, Ore., Aug. 5, 1997 - Intel Corporation today announced that Deutsche Telekom AG (DT) will extend its existing agreement by taking an order for tens of thousands of units of the Intel Business Video Conferencing System over the next 12 months. This order is one of the largest ever for desktop video conferencing systems. The Intel Business Video Conferencing System, based on Intel's industry-leading ProSharer technology, gives PC users the ability to hold interactive audio, video and data exchanges with one another..."
intel.com

also intc is launching a home networking division of which broadband access seems to be a key component... if orctf can land a couple of deployments... say one in europe and one in the us... think we could see a big name for an oem deal... but those are a couple of big if's... none-the-less, could be an interesting couple of months... things do seem to be heating up...

here's to orctf in 98,
