Bill, I think you are overcomplicating things. Historically Apple does worst Jan.-March. April-June and July-Sept. are pretty even, with an edge to the latter. Oct.-Dec. has been the best but recent management comments indicate that Apple is now strongest in July-Sept.

I think the April-June quarter has more educational spending than you realize.

However, the answer as to why Apple had a huge June last year was new products (high margin, not the gloomy scenario that was your first guess)--the 8600 and 9600 finally shipped and were lapped up. In this same way, the products due in May could cause a nice sales uptick, not the leveling off that some are predicting from G3 sales.
