Halliburton <HAL.N> delays shareholder meeting

DALLAS, March 17 (Reuters) - Halliburton Co said Tuesday it is temporarily postponing its annual meeting to take action on items required to implement the recently announced merger with Dresser Industries Inc <DI.N>.

Halliburton said the meeting originally was scheduled for May 19, but will be rescheduled for a later date.

The meeting will include consideration of proposals to increase the authorized number of shares of the company's common stock and also to approve the issuance of approximately 175 million new shares pursuant to the definitive merger agreement, Halliburton said.

The definitive merger agreement calls for Dresser shareholders to receive one newly issued share of Halliburton common stock for each Dresser common share.

Halliburton Company is one of the world's largest diversified energy services, engineering, maintenance and construction companies. Dresser provides energy companies with drilling and well construction systems, engineered equipment and technologies.

Agreed. If things pan out anything like the last six dip and rally cycles, we should get 5 good positive days before the next dip.
