Continue to chuckle, I prefer to invest in a company who has a plan and the know how to execute it. You don't seem to want to acknowledge the risk your taking on. Stick around Nam Tai long enough, and then share how you feel. You'll see:

1. much of your "good" performance is really just one time gains and interest on cash.

2. NTAIF has severe reliance on just a few customers. It's the kind of company that sinks when you hear TXN or SHARP has not renewed their contract.

3. You should be very suspicious of a company that, several months ago, asked for cash to acquire and grow, and then it does neither. If indeed it takes at least another six months to make an acquisition, your looking a them holding on to all that cash for nearly a year!

There are many who can raise cash, few who invest it wisely. When it's my cash, I don't intend to give it to someone who is just "trying" to learn how to play the game.

Buffy,
I think the "opinions" you mention reflect the stock price and not the "value" of the company. Most would be much more positive if the stock price was higher. That is what is so good about finding these diamonds in the rough that have these valuations. There is always a group of negative people who have been burned with sour grapes. Not to mention some "Conflict of interest" from the Deswell crowd.
Not to say there should not be some concerns, but it is pretty typical to look for a scape goat and now it is Mr.Koo. If Nam-Tai stock price turns around he will be the Hero for those of us who took the risk.
Having said that I think there are some people on this thread who have been consistently and sensibly cautious. I agree this was a pretty good quarter, and it looks to me that the Street seems to agree. Volume has been strong and the price has been firmly headed up. Analysts have it rated a buy with earnings for FY98 flat. Zacks has it rated the #1 out of 10 company in its sector.
Mr. Koo's comments for the comming quarters were first "OK" and second "real good". Maybe that will mirror last year. If that is what occurs then we should see some serious appreciations following the second quarter earnings release. Of course that would be barring any big slowdowns etc(economic or sector related). I will be looking at those quarters carefully. For this company to break through to higher valuations it will have to start showing some indications of consistent growth in business.
