Herb, you miss my point. I'm saying that because of the drive to sell at the sub $1,000 prices, box makers will decide not to include a zip as standard equipment to ensure the advertised price can be below the $1,000 mark.

They still need some sort of backup for data and a Zip is fine for home use, but may be bought as a retail add on. FYI I have two Zips, one bought retail for my home machine, and one purchased with my Micron PII 266 as standard equipment. I use the office Zip to move large download files to home. The home Zip us used to back up data files. I only have (and need) three Zip discs though. One for home data, one for my Micron Norton Utils Zip start up disc, and one for moving data. We also have a Jaz at the office for archiving data. We back up across the network to another machine using a shareware program Second Copy and also use a Colorado 1.4 GB tape. We are now thinking of getting a 7GB Iomega Tape for our NT Server.
Never had a problem with Zip or Iomega discs.
