Wsun-just using your post to jump in.
If the under $1000 computers don't include Zips ( with IOM's low margins to the OEM's) IOM has a greater chance to sell non OEM Zip drives at higher margins. Also don't these non oem drives have higher tie ratios? CPQ, INTC, IOM and others have already warned. How much money will SYQT lose this quarter? This computer slowdown could help to shake out some of the weaker players ( SYQT) Most businesses don't have or need the latest computer equipment. I think there is a large untapped business market for Zip and Jaz drives. The rollout may be slower than some thought, however. There are still lots of 486's with small drives out there that need more space. There are lots of small companies that haven't experienced their first data loss and don't realize a Zip or Jaz drive could be used to prevent that. Finally, "my stuff" is too important to save on internet storage , as some have suggested, or on drives from companies in desperate financial straits ( SYQT). I will stay with IOM.
