You may not be able to see this Jane but you are just like the people of Salem who went nuts (possibly as a result of ergot poisoning- have you been into some moldy rye bread Jane?) and saw witches everywhere. I know Northern California. I went to school inNorthern California. I saw a lot of crazy street people, but NO satanists. I went to school with some very zealous people, but they were interested in bizarre things like human rights and diversity. The unzealous just wanted to get themselves a good job and get rich. As for pets and small children, we have mountain lions that take pets frequently. In fact they occasionally dine on joggers. But I've never read about Satanists taking pets. And with child molesters and murderers out there, of course we need to watch our kids, but not because of satanists. Just because some murderer uses Satan as an excuse doesn't mean there are satanists in every neighborhood. Why I read of a man that killed another man with a bomb and thought God told him to do it because abortion was murder. He probably had similar thought patterns to you, Jane. If you really think the way you write here, then you are FAR scarier than any satanist.

Haven't lived any place in 15 years there weren't letters to the editors warning people to watch their pets. Dear Sirs: Those pesky Satanists have come and taken Muffy away again. Really! I've about had it with them, and so have my neighbors. There's one Satanist family on our block that's painted their silly pentagrams ALL OVER the front porch, and in the most UGLY color, too. We're expected to put up with their smelly goats, the ASPCA says we have to, but what about my Muffy? Doesn't she have equal rights in this community? I think we really have to get organized well before Halloween. Thank you.
